Hi!  My name is Jason Utlaut.  This is my 5th year of teaching primary grades. I graduated from Central Methodist in 2006.  I am married and have two dogs named Daisy and Lola.  My Wife's name is Susan and she works for Hallmark cards. We have a daughter Ava who is 5.  My hobbies include watching the MIZZOU tigers, and cooking.  I look forward to a great year of learning and growing right alongside my sweet kindergarteners!

Ms. Leftwich – Kindergarten Teacher

My name is Shirley Leftwich. I am excited to begin the 2014-2015 school year at the Best School Ever! This is my third year of teaching Kindergarten.  I attended Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. Go Gorillas! I have a very sweet but spoiled dog. Her name is Sheba and she is a six year old Yorkie/Shih Tzu mix. I think she is the cutest dog in the whole world! My hobbies include shopping, traveling, reading, watching movies, hanging out with family and friends and looking up new teaching ideas. I will do my best to ensure that your child has a safe and motivating learning experience this year. However, I cannot do this without your help. This year we will work as partners to create a positive learning experience for your child for maximum school success. 

Mrs. Marshall – Kindergarten Teacher

Hello!  My name is Karen Marshall.  I‘ve been teaching primary grades for 26 years, all in USD 204.  I’ve enjoyed every single year. The cities of Bonner Springs/Edwardsville are great communities.  I live in Shawnee with my husband and two sons.  Austin is 22 and attends University of Kansas...Go KU!  Dylan is 19 and attends Johnson County Community College. I love spending time with my family and friends, and when I can catch a moment, I enjoy reading a good book.  I look forward to working and learning with you and your children this year. 

Mrs. Swinton - Kindergarten Teacher

My name is Araina Swinton.  I am excited about the new school year here at BSE! I have been teaching for 15 years. This is my tenth year in kindergarten. I have also taught first grade and I was a reading specialist for 3 years in the KCK school district. I enjoy helping students and families work together for critical thinking and reading success. I am married with two children who both attend K-State (Go Wildcats!) . I like to read books and have fun with my family. Most of my time is spent with my family. We are a family here in my class. My objective is to provide every student with a safe and positive environment for learning.
